Turning a Waste of Space Attic into a Creative Retreat

After moving into our 1827 terrace cottage two years ago the attic quickly became a dumping ground for all our junk. It was a waste of a great space so I decided to try and help it fulfil its potential, as a creative space for writing, music (me), and arts and crafts (my fragrant wife Anna).
After a thorough clean, a purge of junk and a fresh coat of white paint I hung some prints that had been lying around for years in eclectic frames from a charity shop. I also hung laser cut letters ‘S & A’ which are our initials and part of the decor at our wedding last year.
A wooden art workbench works as storage and seating, as does a Beatles tin barrel (also from a charity shop). Four Persian style rugs donated from family cover the bare wood floor and add warmth and colour, while a selection of quirky objets d’art add a little personality to the space.
I now have a stylish, inspiring workspace and creative retreat and the attic is thankfully a waste of space no more.
